PRESS RELEASE: 1ST BENUE STATE ENVIROMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE FOR THE YEAR 2025.

1st Benue State Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise for the year 2025 comes up on the 25th January, 2025, from 7:00am – 9:00am.

2. As usual, Civil Servants and workers in the private sector are advised to fully participate in the exercise by cleaning up their surroundings to promote clean and healthy environment as Health Officers go round to inspect offices on Friday 24th January, 2025.

3. The Public is hereby advised to note that, Saturday 25/01/2025 is for cleaning of residential premises. Those transporting refuse from their houses and shops opposite high-level garage and opposite Wurukum Parks are to discontinue immediately as offenders will be made to pay a fine as stipulated by the law.

4. Members of the public are advised to keep their drainages free of refuse/silt materials as well as ensure their surroundings are kept clean of weeds and refuse to guarantee free flow of water as well as maintain clean, healthy and safe environment. Those in the habit of creating illegal dumpsites are to desist forthwith, as offenders will be prosecuted.

5. The Authority hereby warns those in the habit of burning of refuse to stop forthwith because it is against the Sanitation Law, and offenders will be made to face the full wrath of the law. In the same vein, placing of posters and flex banners on walkways, monuments and roundabouts are to discontinue immediately.

6. All filling stations, shops and markets are to remain closed during the period of the exercise as defaulters will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the Sanitation Laws. There shall be restriction of movement except those on essential services.

7. Passengers, vehicles and trucks that must travel for cogent reasons are advised to obtain sanitation pass on Friday 24th January, 2025 from BENSESA office to avoid embarrassment.

8. Owners of premises are reminded to ensure that, they carryout disinfestation/fumigation of their premises by licensed fumigators duly registered with Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON) and issued operational permit by BENSESA.

9. The Authority is appealing to the youths who are in the habit of mounting illegal roadblocks to desist from it as failure to do so will attract the wrath of the law.
