The General Manager, Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BENSESA) Mrs. Daniel Nashima expressed displeasure over the poor level of compliance to environmental sanitation exercise in the State and called for attitudinal change.
Mrs. Daniel stated this after she went round Makurdi, the Benue State Capital to monitor this month’s (January) environmental sanitation exercise and also inspect premises to ascertain the level of environmental sanitation and hygiene in the State.
While at High Level, Makurdi, she called on the landlords to always consider the safety of their tenants by constructing befitting toilets rather than only focusing on monetary gains. She charged tenants to always report to the Authority any act of negligence by their landlords.
The General Manager also warned those dumping wastes in the drainage channels, burning/burying of wastes as well as open defecation/urination to desist from such unhygienic practices, reiterating that such acts are capable of causing various diseases and leading to unnecessary spending in the hospitals.
She noted that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is working round the clock to ensure a cleaner, greener and healthier environment for all and such gesture should not be undermined.
